Emily Berl is a photographer based in Los Angeles, CA. She was born and raised in Washington, DC. and attended college at Boston University where she graduated in 2007 with a B.S. in photojournalism and a B.A. in art history. After college, Emily began her photography career as a news and feature photographer in New York before relocating to Los Angeles in 2012. She currently works as freelance portrait and editorial photographer for clients including The New York Times, National Geographic, The Hollywood Reporter, Wired, Refinery29 and Bloomberg Businessweek.

Emily’s personal work largely centers around documentary portraiture and explores people and communities dedicated to particular cultural ideas. Her personal projects have been featured in publications including The New York Times, LensCulture and Feature Shoot. Her first monograph, “Marilyn”, will be published in early 2018.
